Penfej Li. Nikolai Karamzin and his concepts of China (a case study of magazine “Herald of Europe”)

Abstract. The topicality of the subject, which we have chosen, is caused by two factors. First, so far, the issue of correlation patterns of documentary and literary principles is being more vigorously developed in the Humanities. Second, the consideration of fruitful contacts of Russia and China in different epochs and based on various material is highly anticipated in the context of the overall problem of the dialogue between Western and Eastern civilizations. The novelty of our approach is related to the fact that we for the first time investigate Karamzin’s famous publications in Vestnik Evropy (Herald of Europe) in relationship with historical and documentary sources, which Chinese science has at its disposal. In the present article, the author deals with the problem of correlation between documentary and literary principles in the articles about China prepared for the magazine «The Herald of Europe» by its editor, an outstanding literary figure and enlightener Nikolai Karamzin. Proceeding from German and French sources, Karamzin publishes a cycle of three essays: «Chinese wisdom», «Chinese newspapers» and «Early modern history and statistical memorabilities of China». Karamzin is interested in three the most important fields: the history of China on the move to his time, the development level of social idea of China (using newspapers as an example) and Chinese moral philosophy, with priority attention to the problems of family education. We compared Karamzin’s views on history and culture of China with Chinese historical documents. In the course of analysis, our main task was to find out, where the Russian writer followed the facts and where he strived to recast the information, having changed it within the range of his own understanding of the ideal in literary culture. As we found out, the main dream, although it was a pipe-dream, of Russian writer and journalist was to show to people the necessity and benefit of a new union of West and East in the course of the world civilization development. The theoretical and methodological, and practical relevance of the results, which we obtained in the course of our research work, lies in the possibility of their use when analyzing Russian-Chinese dialogues in literary culture of other periods.

Yuzmukhametova L.N., Soboleva N.P. Features of functioning of the myth in the novel “The unfinished manuscript” by Kamal Abdullah

Abstract. This article examines the role of myth in modern Turkic-language prose on the example of the work of the Azerbaijani writer Kamal Abdullah. This novel was translated into many languages of the world and received many reviews, and it was also studied in dissertation studies. The heroes of postmodern texts are extremely impressionable, emotional, live on the verge of reality and irreality, sleep and reality, past and future, are prone to deep philosophical thoughts, they are born at the intersection of eras and different cultural strata. The creation of such a hero and such a picture of the world is facilitated by mythological plots and images that are included in the canvas of the text. In the post-Soviet space, the appeal to mythology has its own unique appearance. Scientists note that mythologism is a sign of the formation of a new national-religious identity in the conditions of sovereign national statehood, it is neomyphology that has the most important role in the literary process of the 20th and 21st centuries. The relevance of the chosen topic is determined by the fact that modern Turkic-speaking postmodern prose needs a comprehensive analysis of its features, paying attention to various elements and layers of the text. This is necessary to determine in the future the phenomenon of Turkic-speaking postmodernism in modern world literature.

Keywords: postmodernism, Turkic prose, Azerbaijani literature, Kamal Abdullah, myth.

Snezko D.M., Chalakhyan A.L. Representation of Ophelia over time

Abstract. The article discusses two works of art – William Shakespeare’s eminent play “Hamlet” written during the Elizabethan period and a modern film “Ophelia” made by a female director Claire McCarthy in the second decade of the 21st century – in 2018, and adapted from Lisa Klein’s young adult book with the same name. The article looks at these cultural products through the lens of a literary theory called Cultural materialism that came into being in 1985. The main objective of this paper is to study how a minor character Ophelia is portrayed in these two works and explain how a change of perspectives from a male character to a female one became possible nowadays. It has been found that the second wave of feminism, the emergence of feminist literary criticism in the 1960s-70s and a shift of attention from ‘androtexts’ (books written by men) to ‘gynotexts’ (books written by women) had a great influence on the perception of women in society and art. Moreover, the development of gynocriticism encouraged the public to recognize and acknowledge works produced by female authors and change the attitude to them. Summing up the results, it can be concluded that because of the reasons mentioned above it is possible now to place Ophelia at the center of the story and look at the events of the play from Ophelia’s point of view.

Keywords: Cultural materialism, the second wave of feminism, feminist literary criticism, gynocriticism, Elizabethan period, Hamlet, Ophelia.

Rents T.G. Dialogicality as a Categorical Characteristic of Romantic Discourse

Abstract. This article is devoted to the study of the category of dialogicality and the related concept of dialogue in romantic discourse. The relevance of the topic is due to the continuing growth of interest in the category of dialogicality in various types of discourse, primarily those related to human relationships, as well as the significant research potential of romantic discourse. First, the author analyzes some theoretical approaches to understanding the category under consideration, and also provides its interpretation in modern scientific literature. The main attention is focused on dialogue as a form of active communicative interaction, resulting in the formation of a discourse. A significant part of the article is devoted to the study of the essence of dialogicity, its peculiarities and characteristic features of dialogues produced by participants in romantic interaction. An important result of the research is the discovery of a number of specific features of dialogicity, which are represented in its structure, addressee-addresser relations and the nature of relationships between interlocutors of interaction. Based on the analysis, it is also established that emotivity is a categorical characteristic of dialogicality in romantic discourse. It is proved that dialogic speech genres used by interactants are usually emotive, and individual replicas that express the feelings and emotions of romantic partners are of an emotionogenic character.

Keywords: category of dialogicality, dialogue, romantic discourse, emotivity of the dialogue.

Sergeeva Yu.S. Constitutive features of academic discourse: digital transformation

Abstract. This article describes the constitutive features of academic discourse as one of the types of institutional discourse. The relevance of the topic is determined by the widespread use of academic discourse, its importance in the life of society and the need to consider this discourse taking into account the dynamically changing factors of human development, which make changes in its constitutive features, namely information technology. There are many interpretations of the term "discourse". This work is based on the understanding of discourse as a strictly oriented communicative interaction within the framework of a certain socioculture, which has a specific goal. Discourse is divided into two types: personality oriented and status oriented. Academic discourse as a type of institutional discourse has distinctive features: accuracy, objectivity, depersonification and terminology. The main constitutive features are the goal of communication, participants, chronotope, values and strategies, genres, precedent texts, discursive formulas. As a result of consideration of each feature, new characteristics were identified, the appearance of which was influenced by information technology. Information and educational environment, online classes, webinars and educational platforms are new concepts for academic discourse, whichare more widespread and used every year.

Fakhretdinov R.M. Fifty shades of gray in the idiomatic of the French and Tatar languages

Abstract: The article provides a typological analysis of the functioning of the coloronym “gray” in such distant languages as French which belongs to the Romance group of languages, and Tatar which belongs to the Turkic language family. The relevance of the article is confirmed by an overview of linguistic studies of the concept "gray" in various languages of the world. The recency lies in the fact that comparative studies of this concept in the language pair: French-Tatar have not been conducted before. The article provides parallels and discrepancies between the concepts of "gris" and "sory" in French and Tatar. The material for this study was the majority of examples from monolingual phraseological dictionaries of the French and Tatar languages. This choice is due to the fact that phraseological units most clearly demonstrate all national features of the functioning of a particular concept in any language. This article is a logical continuation of a number of scientific works of this author who has already made a comparative analysis of such coloronyms as “blue” – “green” and “black” – “white” in the languages already mentioned. The author sees the grand result of his work as the creation of a Tatar-French phraseological dictionary which would contribute to the further diversified development of the Tatar language.

Keywords: linguistics, typology of multi-structural languages, phraseology, coloridomatics, French language, Tatar language, gray color.

Mirzieva L.R., Tahtarova S.S., Kulikova E.N. Мitigative specific of verb replication in chinese language (on the example of the TV-series “We are together”)

Abstract. This study examines one of the important functions of the Chinese verb reduplication – mitigation or communicative mitigation. It should be noted that Russian sinologists underestimate this phenomenon and only give a general description of reduplication as a speech mitigation strategy. In this regard, in addition to the lexical, grammatical and syntactic properties of verb doubling in Chinese, we separately considered speech situations with verb reduplication and determined what specific communication tasks this category of language solves. Among other things, in this work, we make an attempt, through translation analysis, to determine which lexical and grammatical means of expression of mitigation through verb doubling are equivalent to Chinese in Russian and why. We took examples from media discourse as linguistic material. In the course of our work, we used the historical, comparative-comparative method and translation analysis of the Chinese text. In the course of the study, we came to the following conclusions: in comparison with the infinitive form, the doubled form of the verb has a pronounced, distinct softening function, which is most clearly manifested in such communicative situations as persuasion, face protection, consolation and demonstration of politeness. The reduplicated form of the verb is a strategy that communication participants use for language adaptation in a particular communication situation. Its key goal is to reduce the psychological, social and emotional "distance" between individuals, to reduce or minimize the psychological burden on the interlocutor, while increasing the degree of trust, which, in general, is aimed at improving the quality of interpersonal relationships.

Keywords: reduplication, mitigation, pragmatics, communication, adaptation, Chinese, media discourse

The relevance of this article is due to the increased attention from the world scientific and pedagogical community to the search for effective technologies for the practical implementation of the theoretical and methodological foundations of inclusion, contributing to the successful social psychological and pedagogical rehabilitation of children with special educational needs. This provision implies acquisition of vital social and communicative competencies by these children that make it possible to achieve maximum independence in the surrounding world, to gain the opportunity for productive social interaction in various spheres of life in society, as well as to gain the status of social viability in solving everyday tasks in various types of activities. However, despite numerous studies in the field of correction of psychophysical disorders in children with special educational needs, the question of the possibility of forming socio-communicative competencies in children of this category in the process of teaching a foreign language in an inclusive educational environment is not sufficiently developed. In this regard, the authors of the article focus on the issues of designing a social pedagogical model for the formation of social communication skills in children with special educational needs through teaching a foreign language, based on innovative ways of including social communication in teaching.
