Magomedova S.M., Eldarova B.E. Semantic features of hraseological expressions in the language of the fashion industry

Abstract. This article is devoted to the semantic features of phraseological units in the fashion industry. The language of the fashion industry, in particular fashion magazines, is poorly studied and attracts a lot of linguists' attention to the study of the lexical and semantic composition of this phenomenon, which makes it possible to better understand the values promoted by this subculture, which can be considered part of human history and culture. In this regard, the study of phraseological expressions in the texts of modern English-language fashion magazines seems relevant and promising from the perspective of considering the national specifics of the thinking of the people and its reflection in English phraseology. An attempt was also made to classify phraseological units according to the differential characteristics, such as «appearance», «career / social activity», «romantic relationship».

Keywords: English, phraseology, phraseological units, phraseological expression, national specificity of thinking, the language of the fashion industry, differential features.

Petrov S.Y. “Divine” origin of some Russian words

Abstract. Semantics of the Russian words дева ‘a maid, a girl, a virgin’, дочь ‘a daughter’, невеста ‘a bride’ existing in Russian and foreign etymological dictionaries is examined in the article. The relevance of the topic is determined by inadequacy and obsolescence of the existing etymologies of the words, as well as by insufficient glottochronology. On the basis of the application of the phenomenon of [d/n] sound dissimilation and the matres lectionis alternation theory the author makes an attempt to introduce his own etymology of the words under question in the light of this theory.

Keywords: бог (‘lord, god’), воздавать (‘render, give back’), давать (‘give’), дева (‘a maid’), дочь (‘a daughter’), невеста (‘a bride’), dissimilation, etymology, the Indo-European theory, the matres lectionis alternation theory.

Safina G.F. The image-symbol of the wings in the tatar poetry second half of the twentieth century: semantic structure and features of functioning (on the example of Sazhida Suleymanova's lyrics)

Abstract. The article establishes a semantic structure and peculiarities of functioning of the image-symbol of wings in the Tatar women's lyric poetry of 1960–1980s on the example of the creative work of S. Suleymanova. Rooted in the most ancient mythological and cosmogonic ideas, the folk art of many peoples of the world, the image-symbol of wings is significant and universal in world literature. It is established that in Tatar literature, namely in lyrics, this artistic and aesthetic construction has a synthetic character: it incorporates both universal meanings and traditions of national literature. In the article, the polyfunctionality of the image of wings is revealed; the author considers the originality of the artistic world of the poetess: the peculiarities of the worldview, literary and aesthetic position, and creative principles. As the analysis shows, in women's poetry the image-symbol of wings serves for expressing existential experiences: creative inspiration, a sense of love, a special state of emotional uplift or mental turmoil, etc. The analyzed image also enriches the stock of visual and expressive means of the authors' poetic language, used as metaphors and comparisons. These subjective and figurative structures reveal various nuances (shades) of S. Suleymanova's specific “female” view of nature, man, the life of the soul, and the functioning of the world.

Keywords: semantic structure, image-symbol, Tatar literature, lyrics, traditions, women's poetry, artistic world of the poetess, subjective and figurative structures.

Zamalieva Z.I., Fayzerakhmanova R.R. The development of modern Chinese science fiction literature in the XXI century

Abstract. This study describes the development of modern Chinese speculative fiction literature in the 21st century. The popularity of the fantasy genre is growing steadily throughout the world. High technology has attracted readers of all generations. Fiction makes it possible to put a person in such conditions when in real life they arise while touching upon actual problems. It is looking for answers to the problems that are really important for humanity today. Chinese science fiction is different from other countries’ ones. The Chinese people respect their traditions and history; they are inherent to find a connection between old and new ideas. In recent years, the genre of fiction in the Celestial Empire has been greatly developed, but despite globalization and rapprochement with the West, China remains incomprehensible to the world. In Chinese fiction there are texts filled with a specific Chinese tradition. Nevertheless, it can be said that Chinese science fiction writers were influenced by Western fiction to a greater extent than the influence of their own culture.

Keywords: literature, Chinese, speculative fiction, China, development.

Mirzieva L.R., Kulikova E.N., Li Siyuan. Efficiency of short stories in intensive reading teaching on Chinese lessons

Abstract. This study describes the use of intensive reading technologies in teaching the Chinese language: from work on the structure of lessons and their content, questionnaire to conclusions. Intensive reading is a type of educational reading. It differs in that the students must study and analyze a small text in a short time; the level of lexical complexity is higher than their current language level or corresponds to it. This type of reading, in our opinion, has several advantages: short text and rich lexical material, development of translation skills, reading aloud, being a great tool in consolidating the grammar passed and the inclusion of new grammatical material. The uniqueness of the study is due to the choice of teaching material – short stories. Chinese parables, legends and folklore as a whole distinguished by interesting content, conciseness, and rich linguistic and cultural material. It is possible to develop not only students' reading skills, but also writing, speaking, and expanding the vocabulary. We conducted a survey and a series of lessons, that helped us draw the appropriate conclusions and strengthened our opinion about the effectiveness of intensive learning technologies and the use of folklore as educational material. Our lesson materials were compiled on the basis of two well-known Chinese legends: “Cowherd and Weaving maid” and “How Hou Yi shooting Sun”. This study will be useful to teachers of a foreign language, in particular Chinese.
